The concept of “sloth” often gets boiled down to “not wanting to work”, because that benefits capitalism and empire. But sloth is actually about slacking on spiritual labor. It’s abandoning the “love god with all your heart” piece.

Capitalism can’t profit from people who prioritize devotion, and can’t control people with strong spirits. So we think we’re “wasting time” if we pour our efforts into developing our friendship with god as we understand god.
