Your emotional system is there to provide another type of data input for your brain to weigh against data from the other senses as part of the rational process. Some people want to isolate "logic" from the rest of the human experience because they know that anger and frustration are emotional signals of injustice that help our brains interpret what our other senses are telling us.

If they can convince you to ignore those feelings, they can twist "logic" (typically by cherry picking data that favors their viewpoint) to their own ends. But that's not how being human works, thank goodness!! Pathos - the rhetorical use of emotion - is a powerful tool in the persuasive arts. Tap into pathos with personal storytelling that helps your listener identify with the human experience as it relates to your topic.

Emotions are a key aspect of wisdom. Many traditions emphasize the role of a mindful balance between awareness and impulse. So if you've separated yourself from your own emotions based on political weaponization of these teachings, you might want to do some work around it because you're actually quite vulnerable to all kinds of poor decision making without it.
